PURPOSE
The purpose of The Accomplished Achiever Scholarship™ (AAS) & The Bobby G. Sanders Memorial Scholarship (BGSMS) is to provide financial assistance for graduating seniors in The Cleveland Metropolitan (CMSD) area and Akron School Districts who have the desire to further their education by attending an accredited institution of higher learning.

 

STUDENT SCHOLARSHIP CRITERIA
The Accomplished Achiever Scholarship™ (AAS) in the amount of $500.00 or up to $1,000.00 will be awarded to at least five (5) or more recipients. The Bobby G. Sanders Memorial Scholarship (BGSMS) will only be presented to one (1) recipient in the amount of $1,000.00. Applications can be obtained from your high school guidance counselor or through our website at http://www.justusryhthmnmotion.com. To be eligible for the scholarships sponsored by Just Us Rhythm-N-Motion Inc., the recipient must be:

  • Successful in his/her academics and/or vocation with a 2.0 – 4.0 or higher grade point average.
  • A graduating senior from The Cleveland Metropolitan area or the Akron School District pursuing an Associate/Baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution of higher learning or enrolling in a program at a vocational/technical school.
  • A plus but not a requirement - have majored or minored in the Arts or have taken some form of dance i.e., Ballet, Tap, Modern, Ballroom (Classical or Detroit Club Style) or Liturgical.
  • Must attend school in the academic calendar year of the award. Demonstrate a personal commitment to church and/or community services.
  • Well groomed, possess leadership skills, and potential.
  • Flexible and possesses a good sense of humor.
  • Have well-defined and realistic goals.
  • The Accomplished Achiever and the Bobby G. Sanders Memorial Scholarships is a one-time award and is not renewable in successive years.
  • No cash award will be made directly to a recipient.
  • The award will be, on behalf of the recipient, paid directly to the College/University or Vocational/Technical School of the recipient’s choice.
  • The scholarship award must be used within one calendar year of being rewarded or it will be forfeited. All qualified applicants will have equal opportunity to compete for this scholarship.

 

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS
Unless utilizing our new online form submission, student must submit a written application that must be signed by applicant and his/her guardian along with transcript of grades, and a senior photo. (Please do not attempt to submit your completed application through our website. It must be printed and mailed to the P.O. Box indicated below, or the online form MUST be used). A written essay that will help us to have a better understanding of who you are as a person and a student and that will demonstrate your ability to organize your thoughts and express yourself. Please type your essay of approximately 250 to 500 words on a separate sheet of paper. Please choose ONE of the following topics: 1. Evaluate a significant experience, achievement, risk you have taken or ethical dilemma you have faced and its impact on you. 2. Describe your interest in dance or the fine arts and the impact it has your life. 3. Indicate a person who has had a significant influence on you and describe that influence. 4. Describe a character in fiction, an historical figure, or a creative work (i.e. art, music, science, etc.) that has had an influence on you and explain that influence. 

 

SELECTION PROCESS
A panel of teachers & instructors appointed by the officers of Just Us Rhythm-N- Motion Inc. Chairperson that will be determining the number of recipients, whose names are forwarded to the Just Us Rhythm -N- Motion Officers for final selections. The dollar values of all scholarships and the number of recipients are determined on a yearly basis. The criteria for selecting scholarship recipients with extenuating circumstances (death of a parent, extreme financial need, etc.) is a confidential matter that will be assessed and voted on by the Association Officers on an individual basis.

 

ANNOUNCEMENTS OF SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENTS
An announcement of scholarship winners will be made on "Senior Honor Day" during the Senior Award Ceremony at recipients’ high school. Recipient names will be posted on our website www.justusryhthmnmotion.com. Recipients will be asked to provide their senior picture for our patronage booklet and is requested to participate at the annual Just Us Rhythm -N- Motion, Inc. Scholarship Benefit Dance. NOTE: All award recipients must be present at our annual scholarship benefit or their award will be forfeited.
